What is a Sungolf Belek competition week? this is a very good question and one with many answers:
Let’s start with the basic answer: it is a week of organised competition golf, usually with a minimum of 4 rounds but mostly with 5 rounds of golf included. It is a week that offers the ability to play serious but friendly competitive golf without any pressure attached. Most of all it is an opportunity to join in and meet some of the most fantastic people you could ever wish to meet and play golf with, we have some guests who are on their 10th year of attending. Sungolf Belek have their own dedicated golf desk situated in the main hotel reception area. It is worth noting that all of are golf competition weeks are attended by members of Sungolf Belek staff who stay in the hotel for the duration of the golf week.
What type of competitions do you play, we always have a two day championship with the day 1 score rolled over to day 2 the format is usually a Stableford, we then try to have a mix of different competitions including: pairs better ball, an Am-Am is always very popular, we have Hidden Teams, Texas Scramble and many variants. All of our competitions are played with a competition referee appointed for each game.
What are the benefits of playing, there are many extras that are included such as free range balls, free pull trolleys and exclusively the ability to have unlimited free use of the Gloria Verde golf course. Each competition week will have a prize table and in most cases a free holiday is offered to the championship winner/s.
Is a deposit required to secure a place, a deposit is not required if you reserve your flight and send us the details, securing your flight acts as your deposit and also guarantees your room and golf is reserved.
Can I travel solo, of course in fact travelling alone is something we welcome, we have dozens of solo golfers join our competition weeks, it is a great way of meeting other golfers and making new friends. There is always a member of staff waiting at the airport to meet you on arrival.
Do you have to play with the same golfers all week, the choice is yours, some golfers like to play with their friends or partners and others want to be flexible and play with new acquaintances. The use of a golf buggy can determine who you play with.
How many golfers usually take part, that depends on the chosen week, our biggest event of the year regularly attracts 140 golfers, other weeks between 50 and 80 golfers.
What is a golf Buggy Pass, the golf buggy pass is offered on all competition weeks, they have to be pre-booked so golf buggies can be reserved, the buggy pass is usually for 5 rounds and offers savings compared to renting a golf buggy at the club-house.
What age group attends the competition weeks, Sungolf Belek golf weeks are open to all ages, I think it is fair to say most of our golfers are 50+ years of age, we have regulars who are well into their 70s.
What is meant by Win a free holiday: Where it states that the competition prize offers a free return holiday to return the following year that is exactly what is being offered, yes there are terms and conditions that have to be applied which are mainly to do with the number of golfers attending each event. Some competition weeks have a free return holiday for the winners of both the men’s and ladies championship, it is always indicated quite clearly what competition prize is being offered in the details of each event.
Are non golfers welcome: yes, every golf week always has a number of non golfers both male and female, there is a reduced rate for non golfers to attend, non golfers are always invited to take part in all of the extra options organised during the week including the gala prize presentation dinner, many non golfers walk the golf course or share a golf buggy. We can also organise golf lessons if required.
What about flights: Flights are never included in the cost of a competition week but we do offer a free flight advisory service, we will search all the flight options available and let you know the details. We can also reserve your flights on your behalf on the condition your own credit / debit card is used to make payment. We do not charge or profit from this service.
